Welcome to Rincón! Info Packet

Daytime Activities/Beaches

The Marina | https://goo.gl/maps/CdqvnykYeX42

Good for paddleboarding and/or swimming as it’s all sand (though can be rocky entering/exiting at some points, especially if there’s been a recent big swell). Also two bars in the area for food/drink during the day. Check out Rincón Paddleboards for a fun day there. They rent paddleboards, do all kinds of tours, rent kayaks and are super friendly and knowledgeable.

Steps Beach | https://goo.gl/maps/p22vPY76TsR2

Our best snorkeling area, it’s our protected marine reserve and it has an interior reef and an exterior reef so there’s lots to see. It has a little sand spit that makes it easy to get in/out of the water to the left of the Steps the beach gets its name from. Can be rough if the swell is up.

Sandy Beach | https://goo.gl/maps/tweWEJhtu3o

Best for swimming/relaxing/sunbathing as it’s almost all sand so it’s easy to get in and out of the water. Can be rough if the swell is up. Has various surf breaks if the swell is good.

Pools Beach | https://goo.gl/maps/zHCVcToPvVVdKnn28

Pretty much just a surf break (though you can snorkel when there’s no swell), super super shallow over reef.

Parking Lots/Antonio’s | https://goo.gl/maps/JX3GT98Vi4E9jxhm8

One of the surf breaks located at Sandy Beach, beware of reef/rock when entering.

Balneario de Rincón | https://goo.gl/maps/Q7d4wUxrPx2wP7iA9

The public beach of Rincón, all sand. Can get pretty crowded on the weekends.

Playa Lala’s | https://goo.gl/maps/z5tpU7Thw7FmBAz58

It will be calm when there’s swell in the water; however, I do not recommend swimming there after any sort of heavy rain. There is a quebrada (rivermouth) that will pollute the water after heavy rains.

Marias/Domes | https://goo.gl/maps/gpMwuMvTAa12

Essentially strictly surf breaks. Do not recommend for swimming. Reef/rock breaks. If during the off season for surf, apt for snorkeling, especially around the lighthouse.

Los Almendros | https://goo.gl/maps/DxetYxW9Nas

This beach is a bit on the farther side, across town, but is absolutely the place to go if the swell/waves are really big. It is always calm, relaxing, has tons of sand to lay out on.

Taxis/Drivers

Uber hasn’t really caught on here in Rincón, so your best bet will be to directly contact any of the below drivers. They will do airport pick-up/drop-offs (at any hour) and local driving, but I suggest getting in communication with them well before you would need the ride (for example, if you are wanting a ride to Art Walk–I would start getting in touch with someone midday Thursday). *There may be more options now as well as some may have stopped providing services; this list was curated 12/2019* I have personally worked with Uber Mike, Michael Kilkenney, and Colombani with reliability.
